IS not liking math and becoming a computer science major a bad idea?

I do okay with math but im not great but somthing in CS catches my interest. Good Idea or Bad?

IS not liking math and becoming a computer science major a bad idea?
Well, it's not a great idea.

If you want to increase your chances of succeeding in CS, then you should hit the math books more. You could do OK without doing well in math. But your chances of doing better in CS are better if you do well in math. You don't have to like math, but you should understand the concepts.
Reply:don't really see anything predetermined in it but why not try want you like . they also say find a job your love and you'll never have to work a day in your life .
Reply:you dont have to like it you just have to be good at it...just do whatever your best at

what are you best at hmmmm?
Reply:yes bad idea
Reply:Good idea. I did it. no problem finding jobs either.
Reply:Usually the two go together, but it isn't essential. I worked as a programmer/software engineer for 35 years and, although I majored in math, there is very little mathematics involved. The reason they go hand in hand has more to do with the fact that mathematical thought is very analytical as is computer science.
Reply:well i dont think it is. i mean u do ok in maths right? its not like u do bad. u can always improve IF u plan on pursuing in CS. okay? so start mastering ur maths now! lol

*cheers*
Reply:Yep, it is like a person wanting to become an airline pilot and being afraid of heights.

What is the difference between computer science and computer programming?

I'm interested in a career in computers but I'm not sure where to start

What is the difference between computer science and computer programming?
As a computer science graduate. Computer science is the science of computers. That includes hardware and software. Software is computer programming. You will also learn what the hardware does. If you will Computer programming is a part of computer science.

Hope that helps.

Reply:I will also like to add Computer science will go into the thory of Computer programming. Programming was probably about 40 percent of my degree from the university of houston. Report It

Reply:Computer Science is a degree. And it focuses on a broad range of aspects but mostly theory based.

Computer Programming

AKA

Development

AKA

Systems Analyst

Is the actual developing of applications. Maybe a company wants you to customize or create a software application to do xyz. That's where a programmer comes in.

They gather requirements and custom develop or customize an existing application.

What do u have to do to get into a school for computer science?

i want to go to college for computer science but im not sure what i have to do like what grades I need to make and what classes I need to take while Im still in high school. can anyone help me out plz?!

What do u have to do to get into a school for computer science?
Getting into a CS degree program will all depend on the school you choose. Some schools have very developed curriculum and specialized degree programs but here are some common themes: math, math, math - if you don't like math, choose something else. Creativity is very important so artists or art majors do well as CS majors too

Don't be myopic on computer gaming software. Most software out there is business software and that is highly customized. There are lots of non-programming CS positions so think Program Management, Project Management, Hardware Specialist, Software Engineer, Network Analyst, Server Arch, etc.

Finding what you like to do will help focus your degree aspirations.

Avg uk salary for a computer science grad ?

How much does a grad get in uk ?

If with a masters in computer science then how much ?

Avg uk salary for a computer science grad ?
For a graduate fresh out of university, most jobs will offer around £18k but obviously this is dependent upon location, experience, industry, how well you interview, your personal skills and the list goes on...

However, except this amount to go up sharply after a couple of years commercial experience.

Pesonally, I started on £18k and more than double my wages after 2 years when I moved to a new company, though I'm a DBA. As a rule of thumb, the further towards the backend you specialise, the more you get paid. Database most, server side programmers, client side programmers then web programmers get the least.

HTH,
Reply:er, do you want fries with that?

Reply:There is a huge demand in the UK for Computer Science. Approximately the minium Salary for a job citing computer science would be £38,000 per annum and the maximium would be £46,000 per annum.

Also bearing in mind that UK is one of the worlds most tax charging country so you can imagine that they will charge you an immense amount of tax depending on your salary. the more you earn the more these stupid people charge

I have a computer science degree and an MBA. What should I take next?

I love to learn and want to advance myself further. I am considering certification courses or potentially online education that can be completed on my own time.

How about working towards the Project Management Professional certification from PMI? You can find a number of online institutions that offer the educational requirements for the certification, if you don't already have them completed.

In Computer science they mostly teach the software stuff, and in engineering you get to do a lot of electronics.

What is an associates degree in computer science worth?

I recently recieved my degree from New England Tech and I have an interview with G-Tech tomorrow and I'm not sure what to ask for a wage I was thinking of asking for $20 an hour and going from there. What is my degree worth?

What is an associates degree in computer science worth?
Depends upon the position and the market in your area. I live in Pittsburgh, which is a very tough market (multiple universities churning out CS and IS graduates and very few jobs). For an Associates degree, you're looking at around $8 - $10 per hour here if you're lucky. I have my MS and am at less than $20, but that's partially by choice since I work for a university (and my boss said he interviewed 56 people for this position). Still, $25 to $30 is average for an MS in this market.

You could try checking job postings at monster.com and dice.com to get a feel for what's average in your market.
Reply:From what I hear, the market for CSE majors is through the roof at the moment and you should ask for a lot.
