My brother got his masters in computer science. He says if he were doing it today, he would at least have picked computer engineering.

A great many computer jobs are going overseas. The jobs can be done cheaper by labor overseas.

Also, major in a second field unrelated to computers is my advice. You don't want to be unemployable--this is just a backup.

My brother also wishes he had majored in electrical engineering. He writes code all day long, and while it is an intellectual challenge, I guess he has gotten tired of doing it after 20 years. He says elec. engrs actually enjoy going to work every day.

My brother is pretty highly intelligent--got an 800 in math on the GRE (and 750 Verbal). He does have good advice in this field, after all, with his experiences he can see the handwriting on the wall. Just wanted to share with you. Perhaps you can talk to others to see if this is a common perception.
