Do they have a good program? I want one that is not too difficult (I like to have time to sleep!), but of course I want one that will prepare me well for a career.
How is the computer science program at UCSB?
UCSB is probably a good place for you then. Computer science is not easy, and any UC will be challenging. UCSB is not the same level as Berkeley or Standford or even UCLA, but it certainly is respectable, and will definitely prepare you for a career.
Be careful, though. UCSB is not as rigorous as some of the other schools, and it's on a beach. There is a LOT of partying going on, and you will have one of the hardest majors on the campus. Just because it may not be at the cutthroat caliber of the top universities doesn't mean you won't be studying your tail off.
