My dad has bought me an introduction to C++ book, is that sufficient? I'm going to UCLA if that makes a difference.
What would be some good ways to prepare over the summer for a computer science major?
Download a version of scheme and work through some of MIT's open courseware for 6.001. I cannot think of a better intro than that course -- which is why numerous universities have their own versions of it. It's what I took long ago, and I still use what I learned in it.
