Math minor for computer science major?

I'm majoring in Computer Science. I only need to take two more high-level courses in Mathematics to get a minor. Should I? Is it really worth it? What could I do with it? Would it just be another thing for my resume?

Math minor for computer science major?
Absolutely. It will give you an edge over many other candidates.

As far as the utility is concerned, what do you want to do after you graduate? That will determine your answer.
Reply:It'd be a wonderful addition to a resume.
Reply:Why not go for it, you'd be a natural fit for any programing job that desires a strong math background.
Reply:Yes, because the computer science degree wont be worth anything by itself. I think you really need to check in to some real world sources of information about a computer science degree. The fact is, virtually nobody with a CS degree has a job that actually uses it. Most CS work is done in India these days. Americans can't compete due to the wage differential. Min wage in the US is $6/hr and Indians with PhD's cost $1.50/hr.

There are literally about 500K experienced American computer workers out there all looking for work in the CS field. I'm one of them. Most of the guys I've known that were in the field previously are now working in places like WalMart's TV department or worse. Me personally, I am currently training to be an RN (nurse). I wouldn't consider returning to the field because once you have been out of work for more than two years, your degree is considered null and void by most employers.

CS is a very interesting field, but unfortunately, there is no longer any work in it. I still keep it as a hobby, but as long as its legal to send computer work to India, very few Americans will work in CS in this country.
