What exactly is computer science?

im applying fof college this year and i dont know what the hell is computer science,

what do they exactly teach you there?

What exactly is computer science?
Computer Science is a study of computers in general.

Computer Science teaches you how to make programs by using C++ and Java Languages, make Operating System, learn Computer logics and theory of computing, learn about networking and understanding the operations of the computer and it's core concepts.
Reply:In my experience, most institutions lump basic object oriented programming and process analysis as "computer science". Computer engineering meant they taught you C programming. This was particulary fruestrating to me as I was looking for network engineering - the implementation and organization of networks starting with switches and working all the way up to the server level. Most traditional institutions do not address this need yet.
Reply:Computer science is a very general term for anything dealing with computers. As you go through college, you will decide where to focus. Some options are - 1) programming (i.e. software development, 2) networking, 3) hardware (i.e. device drivers such as video cards.

It all will depend on your interest.
Reply:The science of computers.
