Is it possible to become a teacher with a computer science degree?

if so, how much will I be making annually here in Cali?

Is it possible to become a teacher with a computer science degree?
Yes.

You will have to go back to school and take some classes in order to get your teaching certification.

What you want to look at is teaching Business and Information Technology (categorized as Career and Technical - formerly known as vocational) teaching programs.

This is a high demand area and many schools will hire you on a provisional license.

Depending on your undergrad degree (CS degrees vary wildly) - if you have a bunch of math courses you could also consider teaching math - even in higher demand.

Salaries in CA? Don't have a clue - find the CA Department of Ed site and they will have that data. Don't expect it to be very much. Anywhere from 1/2 to 1/8 of what you would make in industry with a comp sci degree.

Be careful what you wish for! Teaching is a very tough job. It is not like the usual public image. You will be working 60 hours a week and the summers off thing is more of a myth than a reality.
Reply:yes. not as much as you'd make in business. Most states post average or beginning salaries on their education website.
Reply:well, you'd start on a scale, contingent upon the districts pay presumably. Yo bet you can teach with a comp sci degree because you've probably taken some Math and science classes that are hard, and the schools would KILL for you! My personal advice... Go through a teaching program at a college and get a teaching license first... don't go directly into the classroom. You'll get the skillset you need and be effective, find a good market out there, and not get overstressed.
