Should I stick with Computer Science or switch to a field which provides better job security?

When you answer keep in mind I am not hard to please - I just want a career in which I can go to work and like what I do, we know some people loathe working and I want at least $50,000-$55,000 to start.

Should I stick with Computer Science or switch to a field which provides better job security?
Job security? That is elusive these days. Yes you can get laid off, outsourced, downsized, etc.

I was with an IT company that went from 10,000 employees to being out of business in one year. They were even running super bowl ads right before they went under.

However, all these things are happening in other fields also.

Do what you enjoy and the money will follow.
Reply:There is really no such thing as job security these days. You can earn a decent living in the computer industry and you will enjoy it so focus on getting a job in that industry. Your best bet is for a large corporation that has been in business for a long time. You will have to do a search of what companies offer the best salary and benefit packages and apply to those companies first.
Reply:$50000+ is a very reasonable starting salary for computer science graduates.

My first job pay me $45000 as a web developer after I graduated with CS degree in 2005.

I think now, it should be $50000+, don't settle less than that.

after a year, I got my second job, and am making $70000 now.

I am looking for my third now, which hopefully fall in the $95000+ range.
